STEAM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics, is extremely important as it engages students and equips them with critical thinking, problem solving, and creative and collaborative skills. It also helps to build a connections between school, our community, and globally. These materials will allow me to tap into each student's creativity and interest, and provide an opportunity to develop a passion for STEAM and hopefully pursue a job in a related field. Each material was specifically picked with my students in mind. The Scholastic nonfiction sets will expose my students to information, new perspectives, and life skills that can be used to address challenges in their lives. Different building and art materials will ignite the engineer and artist in my classroom. I can't wait see the joy on their faces as they engage in STEAM activities and spark a new passion.
