Learning to read is much more effective if students are learning in their first language. By providing my students with a classroom library of bilingual books they will be able to make connections to their first language as well as their personal experiences. These books will equip my students with the resources they need to become lifelong readers. These books include such titles as Todo Sobre Mi, Tiburones Sarda, El Lobo Hace Huelga, and Talk and Word It Out. They will be used to further expose my students to different types of books and experiences through read alouds, as well as create a literacy-rich environment in the classroom. My students love having free read time and with a wide variety of books to choose from they can be equipped for success in reading.
