The trampoline and play tunnel will provide my students with gross motor and vestibular stimulation necessary to help them stay seated and attentive during activities. The bean bag chair, body sock and foam puzzle pieces will allow my students to receive proprioceptive stimulation (such as deep pressure) while feeling safe and secure. While these students will not directly teach my students academic skills, it will help support their sensory regulation to better prepare them for academic activities and daily living skills. For example, while I'm teaching a lesson on letter identification, one of my students may be fidgeting and disrupting the students by getting out of his/her seat during the lesson. If the trampoline is nearby, myself or my classroom aide can monitor the student on the trampoline while I continue my lesson. The gross motor movement created by jumping up and down will activate their vestibular system and help regulate their sensory system. This regulation will help prepare my student for learning. Once the student returns to the group, they will be able to sit and focus to learn or review a specific skill.
