Young students learn by doing. Our grocery store/lemonade stand and other creative play items present a chance for students to learn about money, math, needs, wants, and practice the real life skills they are learning. Students with sensory needs will be able to use the trampoline, parachute, and other sensory items to ease their anxiety, providing a sensory diet that will optimize the learning environment. School supplies will enable all curriculum/materials to be modified for those learners with visual and auditory processing issues so that they may access the curriculum. Lastly, most of my students are on feeding plans and strict diets, some with feeding tubes, which require their breakfast and lunch to be in a puree/pudding consistently. The blender will enable me to prepare their food in the classroom. The toaster oven will enable me to incorporate cooking into our weekly curriculum, enabling students to follow directions, practice their math/measuring skills, and their writing skills as they summarize what we made and how they liked it!
