One of my biggest goals as a teacher is to foster a learning environment that is safe, warm, organized, and (most importantly) student-centered. I believe that by adding these simple clipboards and requested flexible seating options around my classroom, I will be able to create a more student-centered environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication. The wobble chairs will be a great resource for my students to use during small-group intervention, bean bag chairs will make for a comfy reading spot in our little classroom library, and wobble cushions are a great portable option for students to pick up and go when needed. Research has shown that providing students with flexible seating options helps them burn a few calories, get out some excess energy, improve metabolism, create better oxygen flow to the brain, improve core strength and posture, as well as increase motivation and engagement. As a teacher, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing your students excited and motivated to learn. I believe these flexible seating options will help me create the environment designed to do just that.
