On a Monday morning in May, we will leave the four walls of our classroom for an exciting outdoor, week-long adventure! "Keeywaydin Environmental Education Center's (KEEC) educational values are rooted in the concept of community and they strive to empower students with a better understanding of how their personal daily decisions can affect the environment." The students experience so much in the five days that we are at KEEC and will talk about it for years to come. This group of students have an insatiable thirst for knowledge and are so genuinely curious about how the world works. While this opportunity serves several purposes, like an end of the year celebration of our learning, it is much more than that. They spend a week investigating, hiking, paddling, journaling and making choices and decisions about their learning. This week of learning directly aligns with our school and district learning goals and continues the work that we have begun in the classroom.
