My students attend school in Tennessee. They are a very diverse group both academically, socially and economically. Our school is a Title I school. Title I, is a federal program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies and public schools with high numbers or high percentages of poor children to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Title I, Part A is a formula grants program for "improving the academic achievement of the disadvantaged. Although we are Title I, those monies are used solely for the "academic" areas. Our school's music department relies mainly on the donations of others. Music is an important part of our students' development. Not only does music help students with their reading fluency, but music helps them emotionally. I believe that music changes children and children change the world. Thank you for supporting children through music education
