I implemented the 5-Star Program at my school as an incentive program to help students improve their attendance, grades and school involvements. The point system behind this program allows staff to reward positive student behaviors through various categories of performance. The items provided by this grant will serve as incentives for the 5-Star Program to motivate students to become active participants at school, contribute to a positive school climate and culture as well as help to establish positive routines and behaviors for each student. Examples of these incentives include but are not limited to notebooks, pens and keychains. Research has shown that students who are involved and motivated with school ultimately do better with their attendance, grades, overall behavior and therefore result in higher graduation rates. The 5-Star Program will get students involved and the incentives provided by this grant will motivate them to stay actively involved.
