Ypsilanti International Elementary School (YIES) is an International Baccaleurate Primary Years Program candidate school. YIES students are multiracial and multicultural with a majority receiving free and reduced lunch. They love learning and creating! The Art Studio at YIES is a space where students are given voice and choice in media and content of their work. Centers are introduced and maintained throughout the year. Lessons begin on the rug, then students set up their workspace to create. They clean up and return to the rug for sharing time. YIES artists choose and prepare their work for display and write artist statements about their work. Student inquiry drives the curriculum!
