My classes are full of terrific, hard-working teenagers who have decided to take their first step toward financial independence, and at an impressively young age. A small town outside of Washington D.C., they come from a mix of backgrounds including your typical American suburb or small town, rural farmland, as well as some transplants from nearby inner-city neighborhoods. Some are looking to compliment their contracting skills like plumbing and HVAC and have no intention of going to college, while others are taking this class before their college careers, which is a lot earlier than I was educated about money. Either way, every student has taken a huge step toward financial freedom by enrolling for this course. The students will be well aware that their workbooks, written to GO WITH THEM BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL AND TO COLLEGE were donated by fellow F.I. enthusiasts which I think will send a terrific message itself.
