Our school launched a social-emotional learning initiative this year to teach all students, grades K-8, the skills and strategies necessary to regulate their emotions and have positive social relationships with peers and families. Our teachers need access to rich literature in order to emphasize the importance of kindness, compassion, and perseverance. The Spanish language books in this project will help all of our PreK-8 bilingual students learn critical social and emotional skills so they can be successful in school and in life. By reading about fictional characters overcoming social obstacles, our students will be able to emulate these skills in their own lives in order to address their fears and insecurities.
