I teach 9th-12th graders, Art I, Photography and Advanced Placement Studio Art in a suburban city school district. My students come from all walks of life and family situations, leaving little extra money to help fund the extra endeavors in the art room. My school district funds what they can but with concentration falling on subject area tested subjects, any extra technology ideas/budget goes to those classroom, leaving me looking for new and inventive ways to add technology experiences in my lessons and in my students lives. This problem sometime leaves my students who are interested in career paths in technology based arts behind the pack once they get to the next level in their education. Having more funding for technology in my class will also allow me to purchase items that will spark more interest in the hearts of the "less enthusiastic" art student.
