Research shows that students need to move more when they learn! Flexible seating allows students who become easily distracted or have sensory issues become more engaged in learning by simply changing their seating or location and allowing them to move without becoming a distraction. In addition, flexible seating supports team building through collaborative learning.
I would like to offer my students flexible seating options, stools, fidget bands, portable lap desks, and stability wobble cushions as alternatives to traditional seating. Ideally, my students would use these options when they are working independently or in groups. The fidget bands and stability wobble cushions will be offered to students who need a little extra movement or a different texture to help them focus. The stools and portable lap desks will be offered to students as comfortable alternatives.
Flexible seating options will not only motivate my students to work harder, especially those students who need to fidget and move to learn, but it allows them to become more engaged and focused when they are given a choice of how and where they want to work.
Please help my students become their best selves by giving them different seating options to help them learn.
