Our school is a medium sized public high school in a large urban area. We have a mix of long-time residents and newly arrived immigrants. My students are an incredibly diverse group with over 15 languages spoken among them. This project is for Advanced Placement Environmental Science classes. The classes have students who have taken several AP classes and students who decided to challenge themselves and take their first AP class. In general, the students are motivated and hard-working but they lack real life experiences and outside knowledge that would help them succeed. I try to provide them with opportunities to experience things that aren't in the text book and this grant will allow me to do that. My students are enthusiastic about applying their knowledge to new situations and this grant will allow them to do that by making connections between agriculture and the environment.
