We need more technology in our classroom; specifically, ones that children already know how to maneuver because they've used them at home or at a friend's, and that can foster learning in so many ways. There are newcomer ESL students who've come to the country less than a year ago, advanced ESL students - some of whom were born in the States but grew up speaking another language at home before entering school, and all sorts of proficiencies in between. The students who I meet with speak Chinese, Korean, Urdu, and Spanish. But one thing is the same: they are natural-born natives of our ever-connected digital world. I want to harness that skill so that they can make greater strides in learning the English language.
