I love teaching first grade! The kids love to learn and still love their teacher! My first grade classroom consists of students from various backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. There is a wide range of academic and behavior levels as well. Some students come to first grade understanding and demonstrating classroom expectations while others need constant support to help them be successful in the classroom. It would be wonderful to have a spot for everyone on the classroom rug. This is a helpful classroom management tool as it will help my students focus when we meet. They would have a sense of personal space and won't have to worry about sitting too close to their friends. I can assign them a spot or eventually they can choose a spot based on the classroom's needs.
