Our school is in a low socioeconomic area, with most parents working more than one job that pays just above minimum wage to make ends meet. Many of my students do not get to play outside at home because it is unsafe or their parents are not home to watch them. They come to school with little or no experiences of riding bikes or tricycles or playing sports. They are so interested in sports and health topics when we read stories, watch instructional videos or play games on the computer. I would like to give them the opportunity to learn first hand how to play various sports or ride a bike in a safe environment.
