This year my goal is to celebrate every child for his or her uniqueness by building a diverse classroom library. Our theme is RAINBOWS. I can't just have a theme. It has to have meaning and purpose. I found an inspirational quote to guide me and my students, "Your true colors are beautiful like a rainbow!" This one quote speaks volumes about my students. My students come from all walks of life, all economic backgrounds, various religions beliefs, and a beautiful array of skin colors. Many students are on free and reduced lunch as I do teach in a Title I school. Every child no matter their situation deserves to be celebrated! During the past several months, the needs of my classroom have changed as we as a society are facing the pandemic and a civil rights movement. I'm facing new challenges, but I'm able to teach my students how to be problem solvers, resilient, creative thinkers, respect, kindness, and love.
