I have twenty-four students in the classroom and three-fourths of the students have never been to a daycare or preschool. Many of the students come from a single parent home or from blended families. Since we are a Title 1 school, I want to bridge the gap between low-income students and other students. Most of my students came into the classroom not knowing how to recognize or write their name, could not recognize the alphabet, or count up to ten. Just in the few short weeks that we have been in school, my students have shown me how eager they are to learn.
