My classroom is a group of motivated fourth graders. Most of my students come from working families where it is not uncommon for their parents to hold more than one job at a time. Our East Tennessee community values hard work and this is reflected in the students in my class. Our school is working to engage students in their learning while holding students to high academic standards. For the 2014-2015 school year, our school is working to build the problem solving skills that students need to be successful in the 21st century. This means that in addition to building foundational academic skills, students are regularly challenged through self-guided tasks, science explorations, and inquiry driven research.
