My 1st grade classroom has tables that are built to normally seat 4 children. In order to social distance, I would prefer to only put 2 students per table and to space the others around the classroom. I would love to be able to spread my students out more and still provide them with a table top to do their work on. By using the surf style desks and the portable tables, I will be able to safely provide quality work space while still social distancing. 1st Graders love flexible seating, so this would also give them a choice in where they completed their assignments. If I am able to get enough for all 23 of my students, we could even move class outside! How fun!
