With a new bass xylophone, I can choose different children in a class to accompany us as the class sings or plays other instruments. The bass xylophone player must keep a very steady beat to keep the other instruments on the "right track." The deep resonating hollow sound of a bass xylophone is beautiful and creates a desire to play it and play it right! A bass xylophone is the foundation of the song. All other instruments and voices hear that instrument louder than any other and it must be in tune. I am currently in the process of replacing all the old and damaged xylophones to xylophones that are in tuned and that all the bars sound. I have already received a grant from my county to fund one alto xylophone. One is not enough, but it is the spark needed to want a complete set for the classroom so that every boy and girl in the classroom can make beautiful music!
