My students have grown up in East Palo Alto, a community mired in drugs and violence. They attend a school in which nearly every student qualifies for free and reduced lunch, and many students speak English as a second language. However, they have chosen to attend the school because it is a charter school that offered students an opportunity to receive a higher-quality education. The students have a passion for education, and they have a strong desire to attend college after high school.

About my class
