My students are 14 inquisitive children who want the opportunity to be like "everyone else". My students are very self aware that they are different than others in the school and some are hard on themselves for needing more time or practice at acquiring a certain skill. Reading is one of those skills that my students struggle to be successful at. I see how much they love learning about new people and places or reading about imaginary creatures when we read together. However, when they read independently they get frustrated and give up easily. These students of mine have a deep love of learning, an understanding of the world around them, as well as compassion and service toward those around them in class. They work so hard to make each other and themselves successful, I want to give them more opportunities to be proud of the work they put in and feel success more often. The materials we are requesting would help us to accomplish that.
