These books will be used in small reading groups with 1st and 2nd grade students. We will use them to examine words and word parts, learn reading strategies, have in depth discussions, and write about the stories too. By giving students more book options, they will become more interested in books because they can relate to them. This donation will support student's reading growth and show them the joy and love that reading brings. It will also help young readers by giving them the opportunity to read new books. Most of my students start the year not wanting to read. If they have books that they can relate to, they will realize that reading is FUN! This will help improve their overall academic achievement and get them reading on grade level.
