The families in our public school district all want their children to succeed, and know that the arts are an important component of a complete education. California has been especially hard-hit by ongoing budget cuts to education as well as the recent recession. In these difficult times, giving the children the advantage that comes from studying the arts is even more important. By purchasing even a few more instruments, we can include more students in the program this year and on into the foreseeable future. This is an infrastructure investment, one that will be available to students for many years to come. I hope to be able to add several new instruments every year to expand the program to all who wish to participate.
