It has been found that 90% of the brain is fully developed by age 5. My special education students, ages 3-5, are learning basic pre-academic concepts and social-emotional skills. My students need supplementary tools and materials to help them succeed in a pre-academic setting so that they are fully prepared for kindergarten and beyond! With these materials, we will be learning basic concepts such as object identification, categorization, letter recognition, and counting. Since, social-emotional development is so important at this age, I will also use these materials to teach self-regulatory skills, turn-taking, sharing and emotional identification skills. My children love to learn and these materials will give them the extra supports they need to fully access their everyday classroom experiences.
