I currently work with around 160 7th and 8th grade students in a combined Health/Physical Education curriculum. I collaborate with another teacher with the 8th grade students. The greatest joy of my routine is watching students gain confidence in understanding health concepts as well as express deeper levels of physical literacy. I have an opportunity to build a foundation of movement and team building strategies alongside basic understanding of health science. We implement foundational strength and conditioning movements and drills to build physical literacy in our students. Our students participate in regular data tracking in health skills as well as movement tasks. In addition, our students experience various team building and strategy skills in the various team games we play for engagement. Our goal is to establish foundational abilities so all students can access advanced skills at the next level.
