All funds for this project will go directly to materials needed for students to create their own piñatas in Spanish class. After our 8th grade year, most students do not have an opportunity to take an art class in their high school careers. My mission is to bring art and creativity into an academic setting. After the AP exam, I like to give students a creative outlet after being so focused for so long, and for studying so much. In addition, it is a perfect way to retroactively celebrate Cinco de Mayo! What better way to celebrate Hispanic/Latina culture than by creating your very own piñata? Students will understand the hard work and creativity that go into creating lasting, traditional products. In addition they will also be able to express themselves creatively by making a piñata that represents who they are as a person!
