Encouraging young students to be fluent and expressive readers is key to their success in school and life. Having great, authentic literature is a component to any reading program and it is my goal to put these kinds of books in their hands. Having the right books will help students build solid text comprehension skills. Students will be self-monitoring of comprehension while, listening and reading. Plus, they will be making connections between prior knowledge and text. Students will be able to predict author's purpose, type of writing in addition to seeing likely outcomes and events. My hope is to have an extensive selection of books that students will enjoy and cherish.

About my class
