One of the greatest desires for my students is to ensure a safe and enriching experience every day they enter my classroom. Based on a 2013 peer-reviewed journal, "Planning of Higher Education,"a study showed a considerable difference for students in a traditionally furnished classroom and an environment designed to provide more flexibility in learning. The results showed that classrooms designed for active learning had a statistically significant effect on student engagement. Because of the personalities of the typical 6th grade student and my students specifically,would benefit from a learning space with flexible tables on castors, comfortable chairs, and plentiful writing surfaces. These easily-moved tables would allow for a variety of activities and encourage collaborative learning experiences. To help cultivate a more successful school culture for my students, classroom furniture that is designed for active learning is needed. These resources are needed to help students to embrace cultural diversity, and enhance collaboration which are all skills they will need success in the 21st century.
