A world of virtual education is upon us and learning needs to still be fun and exciting! Our students enjoy working in groups and having activities that rely on collaborative and communication skills. Breakout EDU activities meet the objectives of many ISTE Standards for Students that can empower their understanding of mathematical concepts and much more! They also have activities that follow the Common Core State Standards which is perfect for state testing preparation! I plan on providing students with Breakout EDU activities multiple times throughout the school year. Breakout EDU activities build a vital skill set students need after high school that includes collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking, which are sought after by all employers. Students learn best through reflection of ideas no matter what setting is present. Follow up with these activities include student’s reflection on practices that worked for them using FlipGrid which allows for them to apply skills learned the next time they compete in an Escape Room. It takes time to build up confidence in math and this resource will allow my students to create a perseverance towards math. I want my students to be resilient in problem solving and possess grit when critical thinking skills are needed. Having the ability to obtain these skills through teamwork is exactly what Breakout EDU will provide.
