The 4 whiteboards will help my students collaborate to become better writers. This year, we started using mentor sentences to develop specific writing skills. A major component of using mentor sentences in class is the invitation to imitate, where students write using the specific techniques from high quality literature. The donation of four white boards will allow students to collaborate with each other to develop their writing skills AND their confidence. By using white boards around the room, students will have the opportunity to share their own way of applying the techniques as well as learn from their peers' writing.
