I am requesting a class set of dictionaries. This interdiciplinary resource will be used in the classroom. Children will refer to their dictionaries during reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. As an example, our students learned that there are multiple meanings for a period. It can either be a punctuation used at the end of a sentence, or each group of digits separated by a comma in mathematics. I was able to provide this by accessing a dictionary online, but being able to use their own dictionary would be beneficial in the long run. Children will be able to improve their spelling, learn correct pronunciation, know parts of speech, synonyms, and antonyms.
