The request for an IPad Pro and Pencil may seem like unnecessary items in a mathematics classroom, but it is the key to helping my students to realize how amazing and capable they are. The ability to move freely around a classroom and to interact without technology dictating my location allows for more engagement from all students. I can help foster a warm, trusting, and safe environment for my kids by being within closer proximity to them. Students can utilize the IPad while working in small groups and will be able to display their mathematical thinking. I strive to break down the barriers that students have when it comes to math. I work hard to help them find a belief in themselves. Although I find myself to be successful to a degree, I know that my freedom to move during all components of class time will improve my relationships with my students and will foster trust and security between us- which will allow them to feel comfortable making mistakes, taking risks and feeling like they have attained an understanding of something that seemed very scary in the beginning.
