My students are eager, active, and inquisitive sixth graders ranging from high to low academics achievers. My student's environmental and social issues range from tear jerking to well adjusted. My school is a is a very clean, warm, friendly, Title I school, nestled on the south side of the school district, in need of active science classes and equipment. Generally, the students enter middle school with little science background so they have a lot of science skills and content to learn. Since we don't have a lot of science supplies, we do little simple labs using materials that the teachers can afford to purchase out of their pockets, in an effort to simulate science processes. In addition, we use a lot of animations, movies, and pictures from the Internet. For the most part the children want to learn, and the faculty strives to teach and bring them above their deficits in science.
