Have you ever looked back on your educational career and thought of that one material that made a difference in your life? The answer is probably ... no. This is because materials don't change student learning or outcomes. People do. Many students call our school their "Home Sweet School"; school is their home and for many this is their only safe place. What we hope to gain from a "calming room" is further sense of comfort, love and belonging. Students will be able to enter a room that is only filled with items that will calm their bodies, relax their minds and allow them to re-focus so they can have a productive school day. Spa music+ Zen gardens+Thinking Putty+Sensory toys+ supportive staff = basic needs met = happy, safe and loved children.
