Are you curious about how your body works? How about what doctors actually measure when they take your blood pressure? Or why salt, exercise, and cholesterol influence your blood pressure? Or why chemotherapy makes people's hair fall out? My students definitely are. I teach human anatomy and physiology to high school students in Washington DC. Despite the minority and low-income status of the majority of our students, our school is dedicated to preparing ALL of our students to go to college. The materials requested in this proposal are necessary to provide the rigorous and authentic science learning experiences my students need to inspire and prepare them to succeed in college-level science coursework.
