I will be a first year teacher in a third grade classroom in Texas. My students are amazing and I want them to have all of the resources they need in order to succeed. Through research, I have created a list of amazing books I want to have in my classroom library. Third grade is the first year students are required to take the state test called STAAR in Texas. Reading is a key component of this exam. It is only by practicing reading that students become better readers and lifelong learners. The books that have been selected are books that will not only interest the students but will help develop the skills needed for them to do well on the state exam.
