The Alternative Center serves High-Risk Middle and High School students! They are a great group of students who are at risk (poverty and familial issues/concerns) and they are in need of so much! Ninety of our students are free lunch and are raised in single parent households. They come to our school for more one-on-one assistance and more often than not, because they have been suspended or expelled from their home-based schools. Most people have given up on them at that point, including their parents, and they are usually one step away from having the law step-in. Through this program, we try to rehabilitate and reinforce more positive social skills and teach reality based skills and lessons. We need technology to do this.
