Using directional combination locks, key locks, hasps, word locks, and 3 and 4-digit locks, teams of students will solve a variety of geography clues to open the locks and "escape" the room. Each team will have a locked toolbox and envelopes of clues. Invisible ink messages will be decoded using the UV lights attached to the pens. The popular "Breakout Room" format requires collaboration as teams of students use digital and traditional maps to "unlock" the answers to geographic challenges. Breakout Room topics and complexity will vary by grade level and support student learning in Geographic Information Science as well as Social Studies.
