The materials I am requesting for my classroom are to help my students learn through fun and engaging hands-on activities. These materials are versatile and will be used for different subjects in my classroom and at different times. For example, the play dough, wiki sticks and pipe cleaners and beads will be used to practice sight words and in math tubs. The magnetic letters and the stamps will also be used to practice sight words. I have included printer ink and card stock to make some hands on centers and sorting activities for both reading and math. Last year I completed my master's degree in Early Literacy and also participated in a multisensory training on teaching reading. This year I was given the opportunity to learn more about different math strategies to incorporate in my classroom. What did all of these experiences have in common? They want the kids to be actively engaged in learning! The materials I have chosen will help create exciting centers, group-work and individual practice for my students. My goal this year is to make learning fun. I truly believe that if students are not interested in what they are learning then they will not grow to have a love for learning and therefore will not learn to the best of their ability. Thank you so much for you consideration to help. I can't wait to see what my first graders discover this year in their learning!
