My students will have a current classroom reading area. Reading books for Students pleasure reading. I would like to have books for them to use in my classroom after they have completed their daily assignment. I have young men that need to experience opening a paper book and fall in love with reading. I had newspapers for one class project and I had one student to ask me if he could take the paper home and share with his mom because he never read a newspaper before. I have students that only read what is required, but I would love for my students to put down their cell phones and pick up a book. They are my held captive audience for 25 minutes after lunch and I want them to love the time to slow down and enjoy a good book. I tell my students, that if they can READ they can do anything.
My books will be displayed out in the open for students to see and read, in my class. I have students that go to my now dated reading area, I would like to offer them something that they can relate too and open up their thinking about careers, positive living, and goal setting.
