If you are looking for a group of enthusiastic, happy, energetic, creative, and economically, ethnically, and socially diverse students, then my first grade inclusion classroom is the place for you! Like all of the students in our school, the children in my class arrive each day with a wide range of experiences, talents, gifts, skills, needs, and challenges. However, all of them have one thing in common - a desire to learn, feel productive and valued, and be successful. Additionally, with so much of their lives under the control of others, these young children need to have a sense of ownership, control, and responsibility over their learning experiences. How do 6, 7, and 8 year old children acquire the leadership habits necessary to set and achieve their own learning goals while working collaboratively with others? The materials I have requested will provide the resources needed to help my students develop the traits of successful leaders.
