I work with low income inner city Hispanic families. They have no open green spaces in their neighborhood, so they spend their afternoons playing in the school parking lot. The have active sharp minds, but limited life experiences. Our school works hard to provide a rich learning environment in an attempt to meet the learning styles and needs of our students. Unfortunately, class sizes are up to 34 students. 94% of our students are English language learners and we have special needs mainstreamed into our classes. I usually have a group of four to five students with special needs, as well as students who are gifted and talented. Also, I have whatever children fall between. Therefore, I must provide a variety to learning places and experiences in my room to meet all their needs.
