Greetings from North Chicago, IL. My name is Stacy Thomas and I am a 20-year veteran teacher with the North Chicago CUSD #187. Even though A.J. Katzenmaier, where I teach, services a population of the lower socio-economic families in our community, with close proximity to Great Lakes Naval Station, our district as a whole, also services families (military) from all over the world. I have a class of bright ambitious learners. Not only do we maintain our studies in the traditional subjects of ELA and Math, but we also like to occasionally integrate elements of project-based learning that enhance cultural awareness, social-emotional learning as well as collaboration and entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, budgetary constraints often keep us from reaching specific goals, but we make the best of it. Whether financial support or messages of encouragement, we welcome them all. Thank you for your consideration.
