My school is in a small rural town in Maine. Our population is approximately 2,500 and we are a very tight-knit community. The elementary school is the heart of the town. Like all Kindergarten students my students are curious, fun loving and full of energy. They love to do hands-on activities and play learning games. One of my favorite times of the day is Morning Meeting. We all gather on the rug and share news, do our Calendar Math and read the Morning Message. Students search for letters and words in the message, find rhymes and correct mistakes. Morning Meeting ends with a read-aloud story. It starts our day on a happy, high note. Unfortunately because my easel is tall, I have to assist with circling or writing words. I am hoping to make this time better to my students my introducing an easel that they can easily access.
