The Discovery Learning Center students have chosen a class vocational project of running a school wide coffee cart business. Each student has found a skill that they wish to perfect in the art of coffee making and cookie baking. Opening a coffee business will give my students the chance to learn vocational positions such as becoming a barista, a baker, and a business owner. To learn new skills my students require teaching techniques that involve using hands on materials, and repetition of steps to master independence of something new. Creating a coffee business from scratch will improve and incorporate skills associated with IEP goals of the students, including social skills, functional academic skills, activities of daily living skills, and vocational skills. Please help my student’s dreams of becoming business owners and operators turn to a reality!
