Science is a fun subject! During my first year of teaching, I learned that although a subject is fun, students need additional materials that follow that they are learning. To be an effective teacher, I want to make sure I have the students fully engaged in the material being taught. I want to have Scholastic News articles available for the students to complete during a unit as a break from our routine material, while still being on topic. Additionally, Scholastic News articles will allow student to practice reading nonfiction texts. This will also allow for the development of reading fluency and might spark the discovery of new interests for the students. By having these news articles, I will be able to promote science and reading in my classroom.
