My students are an extremely diverse group of individuals who make every day an adventure. My students come from various backgrounds, demographics, and ability levels and put forth effort every day to be better students and people. In our classroom, we recognize and celebrate our differences. We meet for twenty minutes every day to hold discussions regarding social and emotional needs, share stories, and practice skills through scenarios and role-playing. Some of our daily topics include dealing with emotions, bullying and bystanders, stress management, and diversity. It is a sacred time each day that students and staff appreciate. Additionally, I teach three sections of English and one section of Reading to special education students. My classroom is a sanctuary for my students. I try to foster a comfortable and inviting environment that students want to be in each day.
